The official time for entry to your villa is 3pm, however as long as you have arranged this when booking and the villa is ready we can let you in at your convenience. Otherwise, you are welcome to use the pool facilities.
Can we stay in the villa later than the confirmed vacating time of 10am?
Please ask Monica Greene, our local property manager, to see if this is possible. It might be that cleaning the villa can delayed, particularly if no-one is staying the night you leave. If you have to vacate the villa by 10am, please note that there are public washroom facilities at the nearby Fitts Village beach. We also strongly recommend visiting The Crane Hotel on the day of departure. Crane Beach – voted one of the 10 best beaches in the world in Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous – is very close to the airport, and has changing, shower and restaurant facilities for day guests.

What type of adaptor do I need for the electrics?
The electrics in the villa are US/Caribbean and require the two flat pin type adaptors (some of the plugs are earthed). We have provided some adaptors for your use, and extra ones can be taken with you or bought locally at supermarkets.
What shops and services are nearby?
Fitts is only a small village, but Jordan’s Supermarket is very conveniently situated a couple of minutes walk away. Over the road from Jordan’s, the Italian Restaurant Il Tempio backs onto the nearest beach, and during the daytime, this has a very useful beach bar. There are also several small local chattel-house bars. A large range of shops and restaurants are located along the entire west coast, but in particular at the nearby capital Bridgetown, and in Holetown. English and American Newspapers can be purchased at the Supercenter Supermarket in Holetown, which is less than 10 minutes away.
What is a welcome pack and what is in it?
If you wish, we may be able to arrange for the delivery of some basic essentials which usually include tea, coffee, water, juice, milk, bread and jam. Don’t rely on the pack to feed you for days – it is only intended to last until Jordan’s Supermarket opens! There are several sizes of welcome pack, averaging about Barbados $50. For your information we would only really recommend a welcome pack if you are arriving late in the evening.
What size is the pool?
The pool, which is located very conveniently directly outside Ajoupa 6, is 10m in length, and features a shallow end complete with steps into the pool.
How do we get from the airport to the villa?
Anyone who does not hire a car can instead travel by taxi. This does not need to be pre-booked, and taxis can be hailed at the airport. The journey is less than half an hour. If you wish we can arrange this for you.
Do we need to hire a car?
Some guests want to do nothing other than to spend time by the pool, and on the beach at Fitts Village. However, in order to explore the other fabulous beaches on this beautiful island, and travel to the huge array of shops and restaurants up and down the west coast, we would recommend hiring a car, to enhance the enjoyment of your stay. There are many car hire companies on the island, which we recommend you use an internet search engine to book. Possibly the best known is Stoute’s (www.stoutescar.com), whose rates we have generally found to be reasonably inexpensive.
What are the driving licence requirements in Barbados?
Standard UK driving licences are fine. You do not require the new type with photo ID at this stage. On hiring a car, the car hire company is obliged to issue you with a temporary (12 month) Barbados driving licence, at a cost of (currently) BDS $10.
